Exhibit Reception07/29/2011 So glad that Kim and Steve could be there to see their work and portraits up and hear the reactions from the reception attendees. Steve has already sold an original which will go to benefit the program at St. Vincent's Children's Oncology to which Kim devotes so much time and love. So glad that our guests could meet them in person and share their love of art and concern for others. I'm humbled by the reaction to the over-all show. So thankful to my friends for being there and for those who've made the effort to get to the gallery earlier or since the reception. I feel that it has already accomplished much in informing and reaching out to others. May it continue to bless others while it's up. I'm so pleased with the overall look of it. The best thing so far is that the two local artists I've featured in the exhibit are pleased with the images of them. The examples of their art shows well with the rest of the exhibit. Really eager to hear the reactions from the public. CLick here to See more in my Facebook collection Art Garage Update07/01/2011 The staff and volunteers of the Artgarage are wonderful. They are there to help whenever you need anything. I've volunteered a few times at events this past years, even helping staff the booth at Barnes and Noble at a special gift wrapping before Father's day. My work is one a new wall there - a slightly bigger space. We've sold a few pieces and generated some interest in what I'm doing. I'll be helping at the Summer Art Workshop next month. Looking forward to that. Stir It Up06/30/2011 Second display og children's work form summer workshop. These kids are awesome and the response to what they did is terrificc. More paintings are in the hall with work by Colleen's Stir It Up creative arts workshop students and photographs of the students at work taken by Brenda Elsner of Shutter B Photography. - Colleen Cullerton Dunkel "He Knows My Name"06/03/2011 The past week was incredibly busy hanging two installations. The first was an exhibition of children's work along with mine. The following statement is on display with the show: "All the art projects created in the children’s creative workshops use recycled, reused and repurposed materials. They are designed to reach out and encourage all children, but especially kids who find the challenges of life overwhelming. Our goal is to help them discover the wonder of their Creator through artistic expression and to encourage them to find inspiration in creative time with God. And, to help them discover that what others might consider useless or unattractive can create beautiful things. We intend to help young artists discover the sense of accomplishment in creating things of beauty that have unique and special meaning to them. We want to show them healthy ways to stimulate their imaginations and push the envelope of creativity and ways to think outside the lines. “He Knows My Name” by Tommy Walker I have a Maker He formed my heart Before even time began My life was in his hands I have a Father He calls me His own He'll never leave me No matter where I go He knows my name He knows my every thought He sees each tear that falls And He hears me when I call It was my honor to lead the art program at Camp Hope last summer. This banner is an emblem of the wonderful things that happen when people reach out to people. It was created in two major steps: Local children placed their handprints on the foundation design. They sent the banner as a message to youth at Camp Hope as a reminder that people they never even met care for them and are remembering them in their prayers. In answer, all the people in the camp impressed their hands on the banner. It became a symbol of what we were doing in the art program at the camp and ended up being in the background of the whole camp photo. The banner was then returned to the initiating group of children & they have been remembering these campers throughout the past year." The day after the exhibit went up, I met the director or Marion House. She loved this banner and all it represented. She asked if she could place it on her website as a source of inspiration.
